Tampa by Alissa Nutting

3 out of 5 stars

“I found that sometimes it was a relief to do something unattractive in private, to confirm that I’m deeply flawed when so many others imagine me to be perfect. People are often startled by my handwriting; because I’m pretty, they assume everything I do is pretty. It’s odd to them that I write like I have a hook for an arm, just as Ford would be startled to learn I have a hook for a heart.”

First off, if anyone read it did you guys have to stop to take a breather? I found myself doing that a lot while reading this story. It had very graphic wording and I did not really want to visualize half of the stuff in this book.

Tampa by Alissa Nutting is a taboo book it is about a woman who love to have to sex with fourteen year old boys. ( I know, gross) but the main character Celeste has an obsession a sexual obsession. Celeste is a middle grade teacher and she like to pick the most naive boy she can find and seduces them. This is basically what the book was about. I found myself stopping at almost every chapter of this book, I just could not read half of the thing on the book, it is very graphic and should only be read by adults.

As I am reading the book I do find it interesting to see why Celeste does the she does. Why is she so driven to the things she does. I had an open mind while reading this book and even though I stopped reading and had to skim through some parts, I really liked how Alissa Nutting wrote the story, at some points of the book I stopped and felt some sympathy towards Celeste. Alissa Nutting really did write this book well I actually wanted to know what will happen in the end.

As for you guys if you have an open mind and read the book may you will enjoy the story. Again this recommended for the open mind, and ONLY adults should read this book.

And I leave off with a 3 out 5 stars for the book it was an interesting read. The reason why 3 stars I mean I just stopped a lot in this book it did have too much sexualizing scenes and I was uncomfortable.
