If I was your Girl by by Meredith Russo

4 out of 5 stars

“For as long as I could remember, I had been apologizing for existing, for trying to be who I was, to live the life I was meant to lead”

This book was amazing it is a book that you need to read a book that is important to read, and then hand it to someone else. If I was your Girl was written by Meredith Russo who I believe is trans as well wrote such a compelling story that deals with a lot of things such as suicide, about not fitting in, bullying, just everything people go through. I have never read a book as powerful as this book I cried for Amanda (the main character) for a moment I felt her pain a boy who always felt like he was a she and how people are just plain mean and disgusting. For Meredith Russo this being her debut novel did a fantastic job and I truly recommend this book to everyone and I mean everyone. Such a powerful book and I loved every second of it.

If I was your girl is about a girl named Amanda Hardy who was formerly named Andrew. Andrew always felt like he was suppose to be a she and he had a terrible childhood first at home with his father never being happy with him because he was too “feminine”and then kids bullying him for like girly things and calling him names. After an attempted suicide he was transformed into Amanda a bubbly girly girl who is loving herself. She goes and moves in with her father and Amanda feels like a normal teenage girl, with friends and a possible new boyfriend until something happens and people find out the truth. Will people still be her friend? Will her boyfriend be upset? Well you are just going to find out when you read the book. I do not want to spoil too much because you need to read this book.
